How to Use Tabula: A Quick Tour of Every Feature

Tabula is built on one simple idea: you've already chosen your curriculum, so you don't need another one — you need help carrying it out. Think of Tabula as a calm coach sitting beside you, helping you turn what you own into a doable week, keep everyone on track, and quietly handle the records along the way.

Here's a quick tour of what's inside and how each part helps. Consider this the map; we'll publish deeper how-to guides for each feature soon.

Start here: set up your family

When you first sign in, you'll tell Tabula a little about your family — your teaching philosophy, each child and their grade, and the curriculum you're using. This isn't busywork; it's what lets everything else become personal. The more Tabula knows about your family, the more tailored your planning and coaching become. You can add or edit any of it later as things change.

The Dashboard: your home base

Your dashboard is the first thing you see each day. It gives you a quick read on where things stand — recent progress, what's coming up — and puts your coach right at the top with a simple question: What can I help you with today? It's the calm starting point for the day, not a wall of numbers.

The Weekly Planner: your week, made doable

The planner is where you lay out each child's week — which subjects on which days, and what they're working on. Check things off as you go, and when a new week starts, roll last week forward in a tap instead of building from scratch. It's designed to flex when real life happens, because it always does.

The AI Coach: a knowledgeable friend, on call

The coach is the heart of Tabula. Ask it anything — how to pace a subject, help for a child who's stuck, how to teach several ages at once — and it answers with your family, your philosophy, and your actual curriculum in mind. It even knows what's on your plan, so you can ask "what does today look like?" and get a real answer. It's a running conversation, so you can keep asking follow-ups, and you can give your coach its own name to make it feel like yours.

Records that build themselves

This is the part parents are often most relieved to hand off. As you plan and check off work, Tabula quietly assembles the records you'll need:

Instead of scrambling at year's end, the paperwork is simply there when you need it.

The Family Calendar and to-do list

Homeschooling is more than lessons — it's co-op days, field trips, appointments, and the running list of things you mean to get to. The shared calendar keeps it all in one place, your to-do list keeps the loose ends from slipping, and you can print a clean family planner that overlays your lessons and events for the week ahead.

The Resource Library and community reviews

When you're curious about what else is out there, the resource library lets you explore curricula by philosophy, faith, and learning style — with honest reviews from other Tabula families, so you're hearing from people who've actually used them.

Coaching that respects your privacy

Because the coach works best when it knows your family, Tabula gives you granular control over what you share with it. You decide what's included and what stays private — helpful assistance without handing over more than you're comfortable with.

Where to begin

If you're just starting out, do this: add your family and one child's curriculum, lay out a single week in the planner, and then ask your coach "what does this week look like?" That five-minute loop is Tabula in a nutshell — and from there, every other feature is a bonus that makes your homeschool a little lighter to carry.
